Description
A Great Minds presenter will facilitate a virtual learning session designed to empower teachers to discern the decisions inherent in each Eureka Math lesson, to study the curriculum’s teaching sequences, and to prepare teachers to customize lessons to meet the needs of their students. The day begins as participants focus on a model lesson. Participants investigate various module components to determine the lesson’s role in the module’s larger story and recognize the deliberate steps built into a teaching sequence. Participants will work collaboratively in grade level groups and independently to prepare and customize a lesson of their choice. This workshop is focused on kindergarten-5th grade.
Session Objectives
Participants will understand...
• how to successfully implement a Eureka Math lesson,
• how to discern the decisions inherent in each lesson and to question the author,
• how to study the teaching sequences of the curriculum while customizing lessons and growing in a Profound
Understanding of Fundamental Mathematics (PUFM), and
• the three-step process for customizing lessons to meet students’ needs
