Description | | Education is a socially, emotionally, and cognitively demanding field to work in. The stressful conditions of our jobs can lead to compassion fatigue, feeling overwhelmed or discouraged, and possible job dissatisfaction. Typically, our professional development focuses on content and pedagogy while self-care is ignored or seen as selfish. Through mindfulness training, we learn that taking care of ourselves can actually help us be more effective educators. In this class, we will address what mindfulness is, where it came from, and how it supports our personal and professional well-being.
