DescriptionClose reading is an instructional routine that exposes students to complex text that will stretch their thinking and reading skills. This routine can be done in large or small group settings with challenging grade-level-texts.  The participants of this workshop will leave being able to describe in detail six practices of a close read.  They will leave having experienced a close read and there will be time to develop a close read using their own materials.  Instructional routines such as close reading will assist teachers in providing their students opportunities for text dependent analysis.
