Description

Join Instruction Partners and ESU 10 for this support series designed to build literacy leadership capacity among elementary principals and instructional coaches. Join us to gain the foundational literacy knowledge needed to effectively support implementation and recognize strong instruction in practice.

Through this multi-phase approach, participants will:
-Develop a working understanding of foundational literacy best practices and look-fors during in classroom practice
-Practice identifying the difference between strong and weak literacy instruction
-Receive strategies for follow-up staff support based on observed needs in participating schools

Whether your teachers have completed Science of Reading training or are just beginning their journey, this program will equip you with the leadership tools needed to ensure that professional development translates into effective classroom practice and improved student outcomes.
Series format:
-Nov. 13 Launch session (in-person) with Instruction Partners at ESU 10
-Two Follow-Up Pathways Options: in-district walkthrough support with ESU 10 followed by virtual sessions with Instruction-Partners to provide strategies to support next steps (Spring Semester; 3 sessions available for each participating district)
-3 virtual practice sessions hosted by Instruction Partners to facilitate identifying strengths and areas of growth in ELA foundational skills instruction (1 session each in Dec, Jan, Feb)

Participants may attend the training November 13 without participating in a follow-up pathway option; however, we would recommend taking part in these opportunities for any of our districts participating as part of the CLSD grant or for any other administrators who want to focus on gaining skills in instructional leadership for foundational literacy.
