| Description | | This workshop will take place in person at ESU 9 in Hastings; please register at ESU 9 at: https://connect.esu9.org/workshops/SectionDetails.aspx?SectionID=1594
This workshop will give students an opportunity to experience the ACT writing test and receive feedback as well as provide training and experience with the ACT rubric for teachers. Each scorer may bring up to 30 student writing samples. If you would like to bring more than 30 samples, please sign up an additional scorer.
Analytical scoring is designed to provide teachers, students, parents, and districts with disaggregated information regarding writing strengths and areas for improvement. Each student paper will be assessed using the ACT rubric. Data gathered from this workshop will assist with identifying instructional focus and student practice necessary to increase performance on the state-wide ACT Test. Past participants in analytical scoring workshops have found the professional conversations and results from this process very valuable in supporting instruction in the classroom.
Participants do not need to attend the November 1 training but are highly encouraged to have attended the September 27 ACT Writing Prep training. Prompts were given at the September 27 training for this spring training. Student papers must be submitted to ESU 9 no later than Tuesday, January 31. |
