Description | | CONTENT AREA: K-12 Mathematics. ESU 10 schools will have an opportunity to revisit their K-12 student learning objectives for mathematics at this year's curriculum development sessions. For NDE Accreditation, Rule 10, districts are required to have curriculum guides for core subjects.
The purpose for these sessions is to update and improve alignment from grade-to-grade and course-to-course, as well as, to communicate expectations for math learning among the staff. This curriculum process also provides evidence that students are given multiple opportunities to learn the standards. (Ref: Criterion 2, District Portfolio)
Districts are encouraged to send a team of teachers of math and an administrator. Curriculum development steps and overall design of a useful curriculum document will be presented. These sessions will include work time with technical support from ESU 10 staff.
Teams will need to bring their current curriculum guide or curriculum documents and laptops, if possible. Each curriculum session will build on the preceding one and may require some additional work in the district between sessions to gather information from teachers who were unable to attend the ESU 10 session. The purpose of involving all math teachers is to address and made decisions regarding gaps or overlaps that may exist in the current curriculum. |
