DescriptionStrategies for Closing the Achievement Gaps: This Module was developed by the National Education Association (NEA)  to help teachers close the achievement gaps with changing student populations and provides strategies on methodology and pedagogy for all English language learners of various cultures and languages.

The training will support and assist educators how to apply the best research based ELL culture and equity practices in the classroom.

Training objectives include:
  • Understand the English language learner culture and its implications for the whole-school improvement.
  • Be able to identify current research, theory and practice to enable schools to effectively meet ELL's acquisition level, language and economical differences.
  • Strategic Methods for making grade-level materials and resources.
  • Attain resources that will help increase members' teaching strategies specifically addressing ELLs.

Nebraska State Education Association (NSEA) will provide notebooks with materials for each participant. NSEA will provide reimbursement for mileage, motel, and meals for those traveling over 75 miles.

Lunch and snacks are provided for both days.
