The goals of this workshop include learning the basic principles of structured teaching and beginning the application of these principles in designing or re-evaluating a target student’s programming. Participants in this workshop must bring the IEP of a target child with whom they are using or plan to use structured teaching principles.
Day 1:
Components of structured teaching
•Physical structure
•Work systems
•Visual schedules
•Organization
•Determining student needs/assessment
Day 2:
Integrating structured teaching/1:1 instructional principles into an IEP
•1:1 teaching
•Reinforcement
•Data collection
•Designing work systems/activities that meet individual needs
•Building classroom schedules incorporating structured teaching/1:1 principles
•Writing measurable goals from work systems and functional tasks |
