DescriptionDeaf Education and Audiology Services, We're "HEAR" to help You and Your Students.
Goals:
  • Learn what audiology & deaf education services are offered to you and your students and understand how to appropriately access audiology & deaf education services.
  • Gain an understanding of how different levels of deafness may impact the student's education.  Gain knowledge of accommodations that are available for students who are deaf and hard of hearing.
  • Have a basic knowledge of how to interpret audiology result/report information.
  • Intro to deaf ed. & audiology services, who we are, what are the differences
  • How to read and understand an audiogram and audiology results/report
  • Best Practice: IFSP, & IEP procedures-communication concerns and education choices. What can you do after a child is identified with a hearing loss, what we can do to help?

SLPs "Practicing" Best Practice
  • Explore and revise procedures, forms and interventions for ESU 10's new Problem Solving for Articulation Process.
  • Standardize ESU 10's Speech Language Assessment Battery by documenting pros and cons of various speech language tests (reliability and validity, administration time, additional needs, support for establishing goals, availability, etc.)
  • Discuss ways SLPs can support a pre-referral problem solving process for students with speech language concerns through participation in RtI activities and SAT.  This might include helping staff and parents develop appropriate interventions, collecting formative and anecdotal data, as well as providing brief structured interventions.
