DescriptionPhysical Education is probably one of the most difficult classes a student with autism as well as those with behavior issues has to take and needs to take. The over stimulation of senses is a real obstacle that students need to learn to manage.  Managing this stimulation doesn’t happen all at once. It is a process that takes time and should be planned for.  The more structure you have in your gymnasium the easier this process becomes. Teachers will actively participate in simulations and discussions to better understand the needs of student with a variety of abilities.

In addition, teachers will be engaged in a variety of activities traditionally taught in many physical education curriculums.  Teachers will have a chance to participate with a simulated disability.  The goal is for teachers to experience successful inclusion of students of all abilities.
