DescriptionJoin us for the "Be the Light" Stem Launch!  Teachers will be introduced to the design thinking process, how to integrate into your classroom, and how to engage students in designing a solution to an authentic problem in the school or community. Students will learn about the design process that results in a product or prototype for April STEMfest! We will connect our learning to the NDE STEM approach and the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

I am excited to announce we will be partnering with the STEM education building, Discovery Hall, at UNK. All students and educators will get to participate in a guided tour, a message from the Dean, and experience the college and career opportunities in the STEM field.

Please Note: Limited availability!  Each building in your district can send 2-5 cross-curricular elementary educators and up to 10 elementary students.  If you register, we are expecting that your educator team and representative group of students will participate in the entire series. Elementary and secondary Be the Light: Stem Launch workshop will take place on the same day, but each school building is limited to 10 students per building (i.e. 10 elementary students, 10 secondary students). This ODIE registration is for teachers only; a separate registration will be emailed to add students.

Participation in the "Be the Light" STEM series will include STEMfest on April 27, 2022 (separate registration and fee) as well as a virtual check in with ESU 10 between Feb-Mar 2022.  STEMfest is a culminating event where students will present the process and products/prototype student groups created to design a solution to an authentic problem.
