| Description | | “Our job as teacher, parents, and leaders is not to prepare kids for ‘something;’ our job is to help kids prepare themselves for ‘anything’!” According to co-author of Empower and featured speaker John Spencer, “student choice is the heartbeat of ownership and empowerment.” Student choice is about more than just a menu option. It’s about student ownership. This includes ownership of the processes, the assessment, the strategies, and the metacognition. But how do we make this happen? How do we fit this into our standards and our curriculum map? John will lead participants through a day of learning focused on growth mindset, helping students create, set and achieve goals, and embracing flexible design to help EMPOWER all learners.
