How many phonemes are in the word “reading”? How many morphemes? Does it even matter whether or not you know the answers to these questions?
If you teach reading, yes!

Teaching reading is both an art and a science, and both aspects are necessary for students to improve reading achievement. If you are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the science of reading, consider enrolling in ESU 10’s Reading Instruction that Makes a Difference week-long summer class/workshop.

We will be looking in-depth at important components of reading instruction (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, spelling, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension) and how to effectively teach them. Participants will be able to directly apply what they learn to current instructional practice.

Registration fee is paid for Title II-A Consortium Member schools. ESU 10 Title II-A schools will receive $100.00 contracted services pay per day for core area teachers as listed in NCLB Title II-A guidance.

Registration Deadline: May 12, 2016

This is a 3-hour graduate class from Hastings College and the tuition is $555.00, which includes all fees. The course number is ED588RD.  You must attend all 5 days of classroom based instruction. 

Tuition will be payable on the first day of class and Hastings does require a check. They do not take credit cards.
